Traffic restrictions in Cluj-Napoca on June 28 during the Cluj Running Festival athletics competition.
Cluj-Napoca, June 25, 2026
On the weekend of June 27–28, Cluj-Napoca will host the first edition of the Cluj Running Festival athletics competition. Traffic will be restricted, only in certain areas, to ensure the smooth running of the event. The competition will bring together professional and amateur runners in the 5K and 10K races, with the start and finish at Cluj Arena.
The organizers, in collaboration with the Cluj-Napoca City Hall, the Cluj County Gendarmerie Inspectorate, and the Traffic Police Service of the Cluj County Police Inspectorate, have made every effort to limit the impact on traffic and reduce inconvenience for road users and residents of the affected areas. Restrictions will apply exclusively on June 28, for the time needed to set up the route, run the races, and clear the area afterward.
The races will take place on Sunday, June 28, between 08:00 and 11:45, and the traffic closures will begin at 06:00, for route setup and preparation of the competition area.

Traffic restrictions on Napoca Bridge

"We're delighted to see this new event take shape, and we're grateful to the local authorities for their collaboration and support in organizing the first edition of the Cluj Running Festival. An event like this can't happen without united communities and partners who trust that we can take things to another level. We invite the people of Cluj to join us, cheer on the participants, and enjoy the atmosphere of a sports festival aiming to become a benchmark in the region," said Daniel Santa, organizer of the Cluj Running Festival.
The Cluj Running Festival team recommends that residents along the route, as well as drivers, avoid parking on the streets within the competition perimeter on the morning of June 28.
Throughout the restrictions, volunteers and security staff will help pedestrians cross at certain access points; pedestrian access is restricted only during the races themselves.
Depending on how the races progress, restriction windows could be shortened. For smoother mobility, organizers recommend that participants — runners and spectators alike — arrive according to schedule and use alternative transport where possible.
